About

Theatre With Teeth is a student-run theatre company based at the University of Exeter, Devon that specialises in producing new work; whether that be new writing, adaptations of existing works, devised theatre, or more experimental approaches.

The work tends towards current issues, topics, politics and sociology: things that matter to our audiences and our performers. Having said that, we try to embrace whatever our members want to do: over the last year alone we saw all kinds of productions, ranging from promenade pub-cellar tours, to artistic script adaptations; from postdramatic devising, to storytelling folk-experience... and that’s not even half of it!

With members flying the TWT flag at the National Student Drama Festival 2011; and fantastic reviews from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival for ‘Photo 51’, Theatre With Teeth is an exciting company to be a part of... Get involved!

Theatre With Teeth was set up in January 2007 by two Drama students from Exeter University: Charlie Whitworth and Dan Rayner. The company was created in response to a perceived lack of political awareness at the Univeristy; both in the theatre scene and the wider student body. Specifically, Charlie and Dan were disappointed that the majority of productions on offer were revivals of work from the canon, so set out to create a company that could effectively tackle these issues, creating shows that were exciting, challenging, and fun, both to watch and be involved with.

Since then, the company has found its feet, and gone from strength to strength, making a name for itself as one of Exeter’s most prolific and exciting producers of new artistic works, both on campus and beyond.
